Bearwallow Mountain in western North Carolina is a 4,232‑foot summit known for its grassy meadow (a mountain bald) and nearly 360° views of Mt. Mitchell, Mt. Pisgah, Hickory Nut Gorge, and even the South Carolina lowlands. The one‑mile trail to the top is short but moderately steep, ending at an open pasture with a historic fire tower and often grazing cattle. It’s a popular spot for sunsets, stargazing, photography, and easy day hikes.
